Police Create Internet Laws on The Fly
Garden City, NY – Police on Long Island have arrested James Roppo, 44, of Hoboken NJ and charged him with a litany of misdemeanors. Nassau County Police Detective Lt. Kevin Smith claims “We asked for his help in getting the crowd to go away by sending out a Twitter message. By not cooperating with us, we feel he put lives in danger and the public at risk.” So it was that the law demands you Twitter or go to jail.
All of this happened before a scheduled live appearance of Justin Bieber at a shopping mall where over-heated consumer mothers piled their children in to meet the young star. Fanning the flames, the mothers started to push and shove to get their kids to the front and the inevitable melee broke out. Roosevelt Field Mall, who was responsible for the event did not muster the proper security and Mr. Roppo paid the price for their inabilities.
Bieber never got into the Mall and was forced to leave by police. Bieber did send out a twitter message that may have gotten the crowd angry; “They are not allowing me to come into the mall” and added that the police threatened to arrest him if he did not leave.
Perhaps the police did not understand the problems they created when they forced the star to leave as he sent out his Twitter message, but Mr. Roppo was arrested for not sending out a Twitter message. We could not locate the exact law that Twitter messages must be sent on demand of authorities but someone in Long Island has made such a law on the fly.
